Why register for five years? Why not just register for one? Well, since it’s an ongoing property, you’re going to have it for a long time. It’s much cheaper to register a domain once for a longer period of time then it is to renew it annually.

Font License:

$30 One time fee per title.

What?! Why would you pay for a font? I pay for fonts for two reasons. First, free fonts fall short. They don’t look very nice and they especially don’t help give the comic its own look. Second, fonts are created by artists and designers and they should also be supported as well.

Penciled/Inked Pages:

$970 (23 pages at roughly $43 per page.)

What I currently pay is $40 USD/page but since I’m Canadian there’s an additional $3/page that comes from Paypal service fees and Exchange Rate differences.

Total:

$1104 USD (Give or take a few for exchange rate and fees.)

The above sum lets us create a Black & White, 23 inked page, digital version of the comic issue. That we can then uploaded as a webcomic and offer as a digital download. Adding color would cost and additional $450+ per 23 pages.

One thing that has made itself very clear is that I’m not very materialistic and that almost everything I want aids my effort to create content for other people. The dollar value of these items also rarely ever grows past $10 000. That might seem like a huge number but realistically it isn’t and that comes from a person that works night shift in a grocery store. Though, the majority of the time my list is in the low thousands. It generally only grows when I need to upgrade things like computers, instruments, clothing, etc. Recently, I started paying for artwork for a comic. This also brings the value of the list up but even it exists 100% in the information cloud for other people to hopefully enjoy.

Everything I cherish could be worn on my body or stuffed in a suitcase…probably into a backpack if that’s all I had. Obviously, this list of materials doesn’t include travel but even travel could be done relatively cheap.

Why I write, however, is simple. It’s therapy. It gets ideas out of my head that I might otherwise try in real life. It helps me get a sense of self that I wouldn’t otherwise get without being able to stare at the entire picture.

It’s insane to me how stretched out the perception of “youth” has become which shines some light on the how long a person can survive in social media. There’s 14.5 years between now and when I’m 40 and I’m just barely getting to the point where I feel that I can attempt to produce product (my projects) to be professionally presentable. When the time comes to actually release the projects that I’ve been toiling away at, I expect my personal reach to grow by at least four times what it currently is within a year. While I haven’t done much to earn an audience, I’ve still managed to scrape together a reach of about 500 people. That is my direct influence (not counting real life friends and family). The cool thing about social media is that you can factor in the reach of your peers as well which grows the potential reach of my projects to over 2+ million sets of eyeballs.

I’m doing a lot of speculation here, obviously, but all my number crunching is incredibly realistic. I can’t even begin to imagine what my personal/potential reach will be in 15 years.

I was raised on Marvel and DC comic characters. Mostly on Fox and WB Network Saturday morning cartoons but a large part of my childhood was spent reading the comics and playing with the action figures.

There are two toys that pretty much defined my childhood. The first is a 1989 Diecast Hot Wheels Batmobile and the other is a Venom Action Figure. My Batmobile to a sandbox and Venom to an incident where I may or may not have tied a string around the body to see how high I could fling it into the air possibly resulting in it breaking. I’ve missed them ever since.

As you can see from the links, I’ve done my research on exactly what makes/models they were and I’ve tracked them down.

At least, the search is over. Now it pretty much comes down to whether or not I want to break my rule and use eBay.
